Review by Jumanji: The Next Level (2019)
The gang of four is back and brings another crazy adventure for the whole family, this time Jumanji: Next Level. Whether it is possible to tear down cinemas again, as in the case of the previous film, is not yet certain, but viewers don’t have to worry about quality. Although the story is not original, buzz, funny quarrels, character discussions, and imitations by Danny DeVit make up for it. Unfortunately, the sequel doesn’t have a lot of chances to overcome the previous episode, but it’s fairly easy to do and offers something new and interesting in a few moments.
A missed opportunity with an evil one
First of all, I want to get rid of the biggest mistake I think the film has. Negative signs are important, but studies often do not know this and do not pay enough attention to them. Known as the Pointer of Game of Thrones, Rory McCann cut the barbaric hulk and the main villain of the film. But the characters don’t go too deep and the villain pays for it.
The filmmakers preferred humor and action, which is understandable given the style of the film, but at least the negative character could give a little more space and take advantage of Mr. McCann, who could be a dignified leap for all the main characters.
High quality action, a mixture of ideas, humor and solid action
Jumanji: The next level offers almost everything you would expect from a family comedy. Personable heroes, with whom I have to pay special attention to Danny DeVit. A small actor who plays an annoying old man during the film reincarnates in Dwayne Johnson, who can imitate him perfectly and continues to prove that besides action roles, serious action could also be tolerated. Of course there is always exciting Kevin Hart, seductive Karen Gillan, spelling Jack Black and much more.
There are many fun ideas that distinguish the film from the previous one. Since the basic idea of getting real people into a video game was introduced last time, the film can’t offer anything unique. Fortunately, she still manages to entertain, whether through constant jokes and situational humor or through a nice action. The film has a funny soundtrack and this time the classic Welcome To the Jungle (which was missing in the previous film, although it would be much more appropriate to the environment) was not forgotten.
the picture looks good, the visual effects are on a decent level and not their own
Quality does not offend, although it could certainly be improved a little.
Potential for the future?
The filmmakers made the picture special because it took place in different locations, for example in the desert or in the frozen regions. Overall, it was a nice addition to the first two films (you might even remember the first film from 1995 with the late Robin Williams), but if the filmmakers want to continue, I’m afraid that the next film will have new quirks or characters I should offer, but I like to be misled.
At the end of the film, the filmmakers left the door open for a possible sequel and would likely choose to do so after their financial success or failure in the cinemas. In any case, the current film offers light entertainment that you will appreciate in connection with the approach to Christmas.
